Ruffgrade

About

Your flaws, our math

Ruffgrade helps any collector turn what they see on a book into a rough letter grade, and keeps a dated record when they share it: their photos, their marks and their answers. It doesn’t certify anything.

What it isn’t

Clear limits, stated up front

Not a CGC or CBCS grade

We don’t use their labels or look, and we never claim their scale.

Not a referee

In a disagreement, we record what each side said.

Not an appraisal

A rough grade isn’t a value. For insurance or estates, see a licensed appraiser.

Your photos and marks

Who sees what, and what’s kept

A shared report
Anyone with its link or code
A report you haven’t shared
You, and the app you made it in
Making the second look better
Only if you agreed, and you can change your mind
An unshared report
Deleted 90 days after its last change, unless you agreed to help the second look
Stop sharing
Any time. The copy is deleted and the link says the owner withdrew it
After sharing
A shared report never changes. Sharing again makes a new link

FAQ

Questions

Does a computer grade my book?

No. You mark the flaws. Ruffgrade measures your marks, points out spots you might have missed, and turns your marks into a rough grade with the rules on How it works.

Why a letter and not a number?

Photos can’t support half-point accuracy. A letter with its range is honest about that and can’t be mistaken for a slab grade.

Can someone just skip flaws?

They can, but the photos are right there for anyone to check, and the second look points out spots they didn’t mark.

Is my report public?

Only once you share it, and only to people with the link or code. A report you haven’t shared stays private.

What about slabbed books?

You can make a report through the case, but the slab’s cert is the better record. Ruffgrade is built for raw books.

Does it work for trading cards?

Comics only for now.
